And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.,
Verse 16 Jesus promises the Comforter
Verse 17 Jesus identify the comforter
CLUES
- He said the comforter is the Spirit of Truth. (Jesus is the Truth. John 14:6)
- He also said that the world cannot receive it because it seeth him not,
- neither know him.
- But You (Disciples) know him
- He dwelleth with you
- And He shall be in you.
- I Jesus will not leave you (disciples) comfortless
- I will come to you.
Now, given those clues, Who is the Comforter that will come from the Father?
Not sure yet? Here are a few more clues
- 19 Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more;
- but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.
- 20 At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.
By now the answer should be as plain as day that the comforter is JESUS, but some are still doubting So I will go to the next 3 verses
“…and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
22 Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot,
“Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?”
23 Jesus answered and said unto him,
If a man love me, he will keep my words:
and my Father will love him,
and we will come unto him,
and make our abode with him.
Again, Who is the Comforter?
From the above text found in John, it is obvious that The Comforter is the Spirit Christ. Or I Should say, Of God and of Christ.
It is NOT a third person of any godhead,
Away with such unbiblical nonsense.
“And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.” John 17:3
