A
s Roman Catholicism took control in the 4th century, it sought to get rid of the Hebrew religion in totality. Remember that Hebrew Christianity/Jewish Christianity was spreading all across Asia at that time pushing out the gods of Rome and emperor worship. Rome tried to stop it by using force but failed. So Rome created a new religion called Roman Catholicism, an ecclesiastical religion for the whole Roman world. However, for the new religion to be successful Jewish Christianity must go. The first ecumenical council- the Council of Nicaea was held in 325 AD to define the God of the new religion, “The Trinity” and to depose the God of the Jews who had become too popular among the people. Worship of the Trinity was enforced with the threat of death to all who refuse to recognize it. The Trinity as defined was three co-eternal, consubstantial beings that are three beings yet one god. This was opposed to Jewish Christianity which recognized only one God, The Father, and One Lord Jesus the Christ. To further establish and define the new religion, A creed was written, ( The Apostles Creed) a new baptismal formula was created. (Baptise in the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit) The Sabbath was changed from Saturday to Sunday. The Jewish feast days were replaced by Easter, Christmas, and other “new Christian feast days.” This was the fulfillment of Daniel 7:23-25 “Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces.
24 And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them, and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings.
25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.” It is important to know your history, who you worship, and how you worship. Have a blessed week?
